Program and course delivery

This program is offered in Seneca's flexible delivery format. Using innovative learning spaces and technology, professors teach students in a classroom or lab and broadcast in real time to students attending remotely. In flexible courses, students have the choice of coming on campus or learning online.

About the Program

This is an accelerated version of our Real Property Administration (Assessment & Appraisal) program. To take advantage of this accelerated program option, prior education is required. If you do not have prior education, explore our Real Property Administration (Assessment & Appraisal) (RPA) program.

Seneca is the only postsecondary institution offering the accelerated Real Property Administration (Assessment and Appraisal) program. In this eight-month diploma program, you will develop expertise in all aspects of property valuation and property tax sectors. You will explore both the property appraisal and property assessment fields including all aspects of the property assessment system, the assessment appeals process, and property tax calculation and administration.

Note: The accelerated delivery model of the curriculum requires that students be dedicated and expect approximately 30 hours of class time per week and 50 hours of dedicated out-of-class time for their studies. Out-of-class study includes assignments, readings, test and exam preparation as well as group project meetings.

Skills

Throughout this program you will develop the following skills:

  • Property valuation techniques
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Math and spreadsheet analysis
  • Effective communication
  • Conflict resolution
  • Leadership and team building
