Program and course delivery

This program is offered online and is also available in Seneca's hybrid delivery format for students at the Seneca International Academy (SIA), and in the flexible delivery format for students at Seneca@York. With hybrid delivery, some coursework is online and some must be completed in person. Students choosing hybrid delivery at SIA will need to come on campus to complete in-person learning requirements. With flexible delivery, using innovative learning spaces and technology, professors teach students in a classroom or lab and broadcast in real time to students attending remotely. In flexible courses, students have the choice of coming on campus or learning online.

About the Program

This twelve-month diploma program gives you the opportunity to develop the specialized skills you need to work in a variety of healthcare settings. Through practical, hands-on training you will acquire a knowledge of computer skills and software, medical terminology, clinical and office procedures, specialized software and medical ethics.

Fluency in English is critical to your success in the program and medical environment. There is a strong focus on communicating effectively from the beginning of the program to graduation.

Required Keyboarding Speed

You must have a keyboarding speed of 50 words per minute to graduate from this program.

Through a partnership with the Association of Administrative Professionals (AAP), student members will have access to national and international resources, learning opportunities and up-to-date industry trends. Students and graduates of Seneca’s Office Administration programs can choose to develop their careers by pursuing a Canadian Certified Administrative Professional (CCAP) certification through the AAP.
