Health Insurance

As an international student enrolled in a full-time professional program at Seneca, you have mandatory health insurance (covered by Morcare) included as a charge in your tuition fees. You will be automatically included in the health insurance plan for the current academic year (Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024 to Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025), depending on your program start date.

You are expected to pay any outstanding balance at the start of your term. You can find this information under the Financial Account section in Student Home. You will need to log in with your student username and password to access Student Home.

Seneca hosts information sessions throughout the year to help you understand your coverage. View an on-demand Morcare session.

Health Insurance Fees and Refund Policy

The health insurance fees and refund policy are only applicable to full-time international students enrolled in professional programs. Learn more about the Rates and Refund Policy.

If you are an international student who:

  • has a valid Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card
  • or
  • is eligible for Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)

You may be eligible for an adjustment to your international health insurance fees. You must submit proof of it within the first 30 days of insurance enrolment period to be eligible to receive a credit towards the insurance amount. Your international insurance rate will be adjusted to domestic rate ($263.76) and domestic coverage.

Using Your Benefits

When visiting a medical facility, you will be asked to either pay for the medical service fee upfront or you will be asked to provide your student medical card to bill the insurance carrier directly. If you pay for any covered medical services upfront or have an outstanding bill paid on your behalf, you must submit a claim in order to be reimbursed.
