Academic and Career Support

As an international student, moving from your home country to a new country is a significant change. In your early days in Canada you may experience a number of academic or cultural differences. Cultural differences may arise from experiencing a different physical environment, customs and practices. While academic differences can arise from different teaching and learning styles, relationships between teacher and students and methods of assessment.

While cultural differences can be short lived and diminish over time, academic differences may persist longer and affect your academic performance. To help you with your transition, Seneca has many resources available to help you become more comfortable in adapting to the new academic culture.

You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with Seneca's Academic Policies. This will help you to become aware of the academic policies and procedures and better understand your responsibilities as a student.

If you need to speak to someone about personal problems, stress, anxiety, relationship issues or other problems you are experiencing in life, please make an appointment to meet with one of our counsellors.

We are also able to support students with disabilities with academic accommodations.  If you have a physical, intellectual or mental health disability, we may be able to identify some supports that can help you in class.
