HELIX Incubator Process

Tomorrow’s businesses are developed here.

HELIX – the entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship incubator within Seneca Works – has a two-stage process that provides future entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs with resources and support to develop their innovation mindset and/or assist in developing their new ventures from ideation through to launch and scaling.

Genesis Program

The entry point and first stage of HELIX’s Incubator is the Genesis program.  Genesis is a series of six free, 90-minute interactive workshops designed to provide a solid foundation for aspiring entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. Through a blend of expert-led sessions and hands-on labs, you will learn to ideate, validate business ideas, develop customer personas, create a business model canvas, assess market demand and craft a compelling pitch.

Each Genesis workshop is supported by two one-hour learning labs offering personalized guidance from a HELIX coach to support your entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial journey.

Pitch

Upon completion of the Genesis program, you will earn a micro-badge. Those who have a venture idea can then deliver a two-minute persuasive elevator pitch of their concept and enter the Launch program.

Launch Program

Those who complete the Genesis program, and want to be an entrepreneur, can pitch directly into the Launch program. Here participants will receive additional free supports to drive their ventures to the next level. Supports include:

  • coaching
  • opportunities to apply for micro grant seed funding
  • entrepreneurial experiential activities
  • links to the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem including Angel Investors and Ecosystem Partners

Participants in both strands will have access to the HELIX space and its facilities (Room K2010 in the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship [CITE] at Newnham Campus).
