Credentials
You can get a replacement degree, diploma or certificate by submitting a Replacement Credential form.
A digital credential is an electronic version of your Seneca credential that may be shared with employers or other institutions to verify that you have successfully completed your academic program.
Seneca is using a new Canadian digital credential platform called MyCreds to issue academic documents electronically. These are certified and official, and can be shared securely with educational institutions, employers and other third parties.
You may be required to share your digital credential with educational institutions, employers or other third parties.
You can share your credential in the following ways:
- through MyCreds if the recipient is a MyCreds member
- by email – the recipient will receive an automated email containing a secure link to access your document
- a share link – MyCreds will generate a unique link that you can share with the recipient(s) directly through email, direct messaging, etc.
These options also allow you to control the duration of time your document is available to a recipient.
Tip: Please do not download and share a PDF version of your credential as the validity of the document may be questioned by the recipient. Also, you will not have control over how long the document can be viewed or who may view it.
While a printed version of your digital credential will not be an exact replica of the physical copy, the electronic version does enable you to share proof that you have successfully completed your program with employers or other institutions.
To view and share your digital credential:
- Go to MyCreds and select “Login.”
- Select “Sign in with your Education Provider.”
- Select “Seneca College” in the “Institution” list.
- Enter your Seneca student email address and password.
- To ensure continued access, configure a personal email address and password to access your credential in the future. In the drop-down menu, select “Profile settings,” then select “Link Another Email” and enter your personal email address. You will receive a verification email at that email address. Confirm your email at that time to complete the process.
- On the “Documents” page, select the credential you wish to view. You can also share your credential with third parties from this page by selecting “Share.”
Your MyCreds account is first created using your Seneca student email, which will allow you to access your digital credential for up to one year following the completion of your program. To ensure continued access, configure a personal email address and password to access it in the future. Steps to configure a personal email address to your MyCreds account:
- In the drop-down menu, select “Profile settings”
- Select “Link Another Email” and enter your personal email address
- You will receive a verification email to that email address. Make sure you confirm your email at that time to complete the process
If you set an expiry date at the time you shared your document, access will automatically expire. You will still have access to your documents, but the link provided to the third party will no longer work.
If you did not set an expiry date, or if you would like to end the access early, log into your MyCreds portal, select “Sharing link” in the menu or select your document from the list. Then select the “Access control” tab at the top of the page. From here you can view existing shares and opt to stop sharing.
