This program provides a detailed understanding of a very specialized field within the beauty industry. Students will learn both theoretical and practical applications in relation to nails which include, sterilization, bacteriology, infectious control, Health Canada compliance, anatomy and physiology, spa business applications, and treatment applications. This certificate will provide our graduates with the certification required to seek employment within this specified field.
Students may be interested in beginning their studies with the Manicurist Certificate of Completion.
Graduates can be expected to work as service providers, trainers, sales representatives, or business owners

This course introduces students to the chemistry of various products designed for and used by estheticians. Nutrition as it relates to the skin, hygiene and bacteriology. Students learn the steps required to set up an esthetic salon and it's day to day operation.
COS820 Basics of Esthetics, (can be taken concurrently).
This course introduces the best practices for sanitation and infection control in the esthetic industry. Theory will be supported by hands-on practice and hybrid learning. Health and safety in a spa environment will be stressed in order to ensure compliance to federal regulations.
This course provides students the knowledge to perform a variety of professional manicure techniques. This will include hand and arm massage, exfoliation techniques, and paraffin treatments. Students will learn to perform a regular polish, French polish, and colour gel application (SHELLAC/OPI). Anatomy of the hand/arm is taught as well as best practices in sterilization and infectious control in relation to manicuring.
This course provides students the knowledge to perform a variety of professional pedicures. This will include feet massages and exfoliation techniques for feet (addressing problem skin areas on the feet). Students will learn to perform a regular polish, and French pedicures, as well as colour gel application (SHELLAC/OPI). Anatomy of the foot/leg is taught as well as best practice in sterilization and infections control in relation to pedicures.
COS823 MANICURE or equivalent
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform advanced nail enhancement techniques using a variety of professional nail applications and products. Current trends will be covered while paying special attention to maintaining industry standards.

When you meet all program requirements and become eligible for a certificate, diploma, or degree, you must inform the Registrar by completing a Graduation Application form and paying the graduation and alumni fee. Certificates, diplomas, and applied degrees are issued twice a year in the Fall (October), Spring (June) and Winter (February).
