Minimum qualifications: PhD in a related subject area, industry experience and more than five years of teaching experience at a postsecondary level. Creative

Seeking experienced Sewing Instructors to join our Fashion Program at Seneca Polytechnic (Newnham Campus). Our classes are parttime, classroom and studio-based and take place evenings and/or weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive sewing curriculum covering (various levels):
    • Machine and hand sewing techniques
    • Fabric selection and properties
    • Pattern reading/making and garment construction
  • Create engaging learning experiences for students with varying skill levels
  • Demonstrate professional sewing techniques and industry best practices
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain current knowledge of fashion/textile design trends and technologies

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years professional sewing experience
  • Teaching/training certification or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in fashion industry or garment construction
  • Ability to operate and maintain various sewing machines
  • Proficiency in demonstrating complex sewing techniques
