Adebola Adefioye Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time student in the Honours Bachelor of Child Development degree program or the Early Childhood Education diploma program. This bursary is open to: 

  • Students who identify as Black
  • Students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit
  • Students with a permanent disability (physical, intellectual, mental health or learning) who are receiving accommodations through Seneca Accessible Learning Services 
  • Students who identify as a person with diverse gender identity and/or sexual orientation (2SLGBTQIA+)

The selection will be made by the Seneca awards committee based on academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0. This award celebrates Adebola Taiwo Adefioye, Seneca alumna, founder of the Afro Women and Youth Foundation, and winner of the 2021 Colleges Ontario Premier's Award in the Recent Graduates category.

Audrey Bullen and Tadeusz Smykiel Memorial Bursary

Awarded to a full-time nursing student who has a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrates financial need. Emphasis is on a student who has faced hardship in accessing postsecondary education. The recipient identifies as Black and/or identifies as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit. The recipient will be selected by the Seneca Awards committee and/or First Peoples@Seneca office.

BLG Law Clerk Award

Awarded to a student in the full-time Law Clerk or Law Clerk (Accelerated) Diploma programs. The recipient demonstrates passion, drive, and willingness to learn. The recipient is part of an equity-deserving group, demonstrates financial need and has a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible.

Bruce Berman Alumni Bursary

Awards to students of Native ancestry enrolled in full-time programs at Seneca. In order to be eligible for this award, the students must have successfully completed their first year of studies with a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average and have demonstrated financial need. Eligible students must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, Ontario residents and have demonstrated financial need.

Claire Shaver Award

Awarded to a student who identifies as Black or a student who identifies as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit and is in one of the following programs or schools:

  • School of Early Childhood Education
  • School of Community Services
  • Law Clerk
  • Paralegal
  • Behavioural Sciences
  • Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology

The recipient will be selected based on financial need, leadership, and academic achievement. The recipient will be recommended by the Seneca awards committee.

This award is established by Claire Shaver to support racialized students pursuing programs that will help them strengthen their communities and society at large.

CPA Ontario Foundation Student Success Award

Awarded to students in full-time programs in the School of Accounting and Financial Services who identify as Black and/or First Nations, Metis, or Inuit. Recipients demonstrate financial need and a passing grade. Preference is given to domestic students. A minimum of one award will be disbursed to a student who identifies as Black and a minimum of one award will be disbursed to a student who identifies as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit. Whenever possible, preference is for an equal number of bursaries to be provided to Black and Indigenous students, respectively.

DWAH Diversity Award

Awarded to a full-time Veterinary Technician student in their final year. This award is open to: 

  • Students who identify as Black
  • Students who identify as a person with diverse gender identity and/or sexual orientation (2SLGBTQIA+)
  • Students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit 
  • Students with a permanent disability (physical, intellectual, mental health or learning) who are receiving accommodations through Seneca Accessible Learning Services

The selection will be based on financial need and recipients will have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be eligible. The selection will be made by the Seneca awards committee.

First Nations, Métis, Inuit Seneca Student Bursary

Awarded to students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit who demonstrate financial need. The recipients will be recommended by the FirstPeoples@Seneca office.

ICON Media & LG Support Award

Open to full-time students in the following programs:   

  • Honours Bachelor of Design in Interactive Media degree
  • Interactive Media Design diploma program
  • Graphic Design advanced diploma program

Selection will be based on financial need with a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be eligible. Preference will be given to students who identify as part of an equity-deserving group. There will be one recipient from each program.

IDEXX Foundation Vet Tech Endowed Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student in the full-time Veterinary Technician diploma program. The recipient identifies as part of an equity-deserving group and demonstrates financial need. Preference is given to students who are involved in extra-curricular activities or volunteering.

IDEXX Foundation Vet Tech Self-Care Bursary

Awarded to students who intend to enroll in the Acute Self-Care for Veterinary Professionals microcredential at Seneca. Recipients will be first year students in the Veterinary Technician program who demonstrate financial need. Recipients have overcome obstacles in pursuit of their education and/or identify as part of an equity-deserving group.

James R. Craig Honorary Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time second year student enrolled in a School of Media program, with preference given to Broadcasting - Radio, then Journalism, then Broadcasting - Television. Preference is given to students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit, or a student with a?permanent disability (physical, intellectual, mental health or learning) who is receiving accommodations through Seneca Accessible Learning Services. This will be verified by Accessible Learning Services. The recipient has a minimum GPA of 2.5 and is recognized for their hard work and dedication to their studies. The recipient will be recommended by faculty. Established in honour of James "Jim" Craig, long-time Seneca professor and industry expert.

J.P Hill Memorial Indigenous Student Award

Awarded to a second-year student who identifies as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit, who has a minimum GPA of 2.5 and who is involved in community leadership. Preference will be given to students in the full-time Business Administration- Marketing Advanced Diploma Program. Established by alumna Starrlee DeGrace, proud member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation and a 2023 Top 50 Global and Mail Changemaker, in honour of her grandfather, John Peter Hill, who always encouraged her to pursue her aspirations and instilled in her the importance of postsecondary education.

Krishnan Family Technology Award

Awarded to a student in a full-time program in the School of Information Technology Administration & Security or the School of Software Design & Data Science with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrated financial need. The recipient identifies as part of an equity-deserving group and has overcome hardship in pursuit of their education.

Laurel Schollen Leadership Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time student in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering Technology or School of Aviation. The recipient should have good academic achievement (minimum GPA of 3) and demonstrated leadership and community involvement. Preference is given to students who identify with an equity-deserving group. This award honours Laurel Schollen who began her teaching career in 1982 and retired as Vice-President Academic 39 years later. An advocate for the public college system, Laurel is known for her insights, integrity, and commitment to students.

Lin & Muller Open Doors Award

Awarded to a student in a full-time program who demonstrates financial need and has overcome hardship in pursuit of their education. This bursary is open to: 

  • Students who identify as Black
  • Students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit

Established by Seneca employees who support access to education. 

Linda Wilson Memorial Award

Awarded to a student in the full-time Office Administration – Legal program who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need. Preference will be given to students who identify as part of an equity-deserving group. Established in memory of Linda Wilson who was a longtime employee of McCarthy Tétrault and created pathways for student engagement.

Manulife Bursary for Indigenous Students

This bursary will be awarded to students enrolled at Seneca College of Applied Arts & Technology, who demonstrate financial need and identify as Indigenous. The recipients will be recommended by the FirstPeoples@Seneca office.

Mary Fisher Award

Awarded to a student in the full-time Early Childhood Education (regular or accelerated) program or the full-time Honours Bachelor of Child Development program. Open to students who identify as Black and/or who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on giving back to the community. This award was established in 2022 to honour the retirement of Mary Fisher, Chair of the School of Early Childhood Education.

Metis Nation of Ontario Awards

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Student Bursary Program provides bursaries to registered students who are verified Métis citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario. Applicants will be required to complete the MNO Metis Student Bursary Application and consent to an MNO citizenship verification check to confirm eligibility for these awards. Naadmaadwin P+W SSF Award

Awarded to an indigenous student who contributes to advancing indigenous cultural awareness at Seneca and who demonstrates financial need. The recommendation will be made by FirstPeoples@Seneca.

Peggy Pitawanakwat Indigenous Endowed Bursary

Awarded to a full-time student who identifies as First Nations, Metis or Inuit and demonstrates financial need.

Professor Laurie Pratt-Forster Memorial Award

Awarded to a student in one of the following full-time programs:  " Environmental Landscape Management " Environmental Technician " Environmental Technology " Honours Bachelor of Community Mental Health  " Non-Profit & Social Sector Management " Project Management - Environmental " Social Service Worker, Social Service Worker - Gerontology, Social Service Worker - Immigrants & Refugees  " Sustainable Business Management The recipient will be an international student or part of an equity-deserving group. Selection is based on demonstrated financial need with a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible. This award honours Laurie Pratt-Forster, Loyalist College professor and trained social worker, who is remembered for her generosity of spirit and community-mindedness.

Rick & George Endowed Bursary of Awesomeness

Awarded to a student enrolled in a full-time program and identifies as being from an equity-deserving group and who demonstrates financial need. Should the College be unable to distribute the award to a student who identifies as being part of an equity-deserving group, the bursary can be awarded to a student in a full-time program who is the first in their family to pursue postsecondary education.

Scotiabank Indigenous Business & Technology Award

Awarded to students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Open to students in the following areas:

  • Seneca Business/Faculty of Business
  • School of Electronics & Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • School of Information Technology Administration & Security
  • School of Software Design & Data Science

The recipients will be recommended by the FirstPeoples@Seneca office.

Seneca Community Indigenous Award

Awarded to a full-time Indigenous student who is involved in the Indigenous student community at Seneca. The recipient demonstrates financial need and is recommended by FirstPeoples@Seneca

Seneca Indigenous Student Bursary

Awards are available for aboriginal students (non-Status, Status, Metis or Inuit) who have completed two terms of study. Eligible students must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, Ontario residents and have demonstrated financial need.

Seneca's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Fund

Awarded to full-time & part-time students who demonstrate financial need. This bursary is open to:  

  • Students who identify as Black
  • Students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit 
  • Students with a permanent disability (physical, intellectual, mental health or learning) who are receiving accommodations through Seneca Accessible Learning Services 
  • Students who identify as a person with diverse gender identity and/or sexual orientation (2SLGBTQIA+)

Sovereign Insurance Equity Award

Awarded to a full-time Fire Protection Engineering Technology student who identifies as part of an equity-deserving group. The selection will be based on grades and demonstrated financial need.

SSF Equity Bursary

Awarded to students enrolled in full-time programs who demonstrate financial need. This bursary is open to:  " Students who identify as Black " Students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit " Students with a permanent disability (physical, intellectual, mental health or learning) who are receiving accommodations through Seneca Accessible Learning Services " Students who identify as a person with diverse gender identity and/or sexual orientation (2SLGBTQIA+) Recipients will be selected by the Seneca awards committee.

Student Resilience Bursary

Awarded to a full-time international student who identifies as part of an equity-deserving group. The recipient has overcome hardship in pursuit of their education and demonstrates financial need.

TSN Radio/SSF Endowed Award

Awarded to a full-time student enrolled in the Broadcasting-Radio program within the School of Media & Marketing. The recipient will demonstrate excellence in on-air radio broadcasting and have demonstrated financial need. The selection of a recipient will be made by faculty members. Preferences will be given to minority or student with disability.

UWCNY-Louise Slemin Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time domestic student who identifies as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit. The recipient demonstrates exceptional leadership at Seneca or in the broader community. Preference is given to a student who is doing work related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) and special consideration will be given to the area of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). The recipient will be nominated by the First Peoples@Seneca office. This award honours Louise Slemin, a committed volunteer and member of the University Women’s Club of North York.

Walker Wood Foundation Equity Award

Awarded to domestic students in a full-time program who demonstrate financial need. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 to be eligible and the awards are open to the following: - Students who identify as Black; - Students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit; - Students with a permanent disability (physical, intellectual, mental health or learning) who are receiving accommodations through Seneca Accessible Learning Services; - Students who identify as a person with diverse gender identity and/or sexual orientation (2SLGBTQIA+)
