Suad found a passion for sustainability in her first semester of studies in the FBM program. She participated in several sustainability initiatives and even founded the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Student Hub at Seneca as a place where students across different academic programs could learn about the SDGs, collaborate and realize their potential for making a difference.

Alexandra Weston, Divisional Vice President of Brand and Creative Strategy at Holt Renfrew, speaks to Fashion Business Management students after the successful completion of their FIELD (Fashion Industry Educational Exchange and Leadership Development) projects.

YM Group Shot
YM Inc. is a company passionate about fashion and value. They focus on delivering the best shopping experiences through their retail brand offerings such as Urban Planet, Bluenotes, West 49 and more. Many alumni of our FAB and FBM programs are employed by YM Inc. in the areas of buying, social media and product development. It is always a treat when students can visit their office and speak to grads about their roles and responsibilities.
Student at CREA Charrette
As members of the Canadian Retail Education Association (CREA), the Fashion Business faculty are committed to fostering quality education in subjects related to the retailing industry. As an added benefit to the faculty’s membership, our students participate in the annual CREA Charrette which is an intensive, interdisciplinary team learning experience. Pictured above are our FAB and FBM students who participated on the Union Station Revitalization Project.
Christina in Scotland
In our FBM program, students have the opportunity to study abroad at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. The exchange semester with the Fashion Management Degree Program is available in the fourth semester of studies in the FBM program. Christina earned four professional credits towards her Advanced Diploma while also making time to explore the beauty of Scotland.
DEX Showroom
In the second year of both the FAB and FBM programs, students take the “Omni Channel Retail Operations” capstone courses which are embedded with the operation of our fashion retail lab — The Boutique. This real-world experiential experience applies knowledge gained across the curriculum where students assume the roles and responsibilities in key functional areas characteristic of retail organizations. The Buying team pictured above with Anna Cappuccitti, Professor, School of Fashion, visit wholesale showrooms for the process of building a product assortment plan.
RW Store Visit
In the third year of the FBM program, students are immersed in the FIELD (Fashion Industry Educational Exchange and Leadership Development) project which is a case study provided by an industry client. Over the years, students have worked with a diverse group of partners including manufacturers, designers and retailers on challenges ranging from brand positioning, sustainability, collaborations and omnichannel. Pictured above are students learning more about their client — RW&Co. at a store visit hosted by Jean-Francois, VP of Planning and Allocation.
Amazon
Lorrisa Dilay, Professor, School of Fashion, took third-year students on a guided tour of the Amazon Fulfilment centre in Brampton, Ontario. Students learned about Amazon’s high-tech robotics that make the company’s online delivery system faster than conventional shipments. The 850,000 square foot facility is Amazon’s first robotics facility in Canada. Exposing students to industry practice brings to life classroom discussions.
RW Store Visit
FAB and FBM students participated in the applied research project: "Dumpster Dive". They were involved with compiling and analyzing the textile waste data. This project was in partnership with Fashion Takes Action.
Amazon
The School of Fashion held a sustainability symposium to celebrate its membership in the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). It was a privilege to have the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, provide opening remarks and take a photo with our students who presented the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
RW Store Visit
Sabine Weber, Professor, School of Fashion, facilitates an annual swap event with the assistance of the FAB and FBM students. This is one of the many events and projects that our students are involved with as part of the textile diversion initiative.
