Seneca Polytechnic enhances virtual assistant SAM with AI

New generative AI integration enhances student support

March 20, 2025

SAM, Seneca Polytechnic's virtual assistant, is getting a boost with the integration of generative AI. This enhancement is set to make SAM more robust in assisting students, applicants and employees around the clock.

For current and incoming students at Seneca, SAM has been a valuable resource over the years for answering questions on a 24-7 basis. Now, thanks to this AI integration, this new version of SAM can answer a wider range of questions and provide more customized responses.

Accessible through Seneca’s official website, student intranet and The Service Hub portal, SAM is set up to respond to inquiries about academic programs and support services. SAM can also seamlessly transfer to The Service Hub during business hours through Live Chat. If it is after hours, SAM will create a service ticket that The Service Hub can attend to the next business day.

Our updated SAM virtual assistant marks another step in Seneca’s ongoing utilization of AI and builds on Seneca’s AI partnership with Microsoft, a collaboration that is transforming postsecondary learning by integrating Microsoft Azure AI into Seneca's educational framework. Overall, Seneca’s embrace of AI enhances the learning experience and helps prepare students for the world of work.
