This course enables students to gain a detailed understanding of the basic business processes required to support modern Supply Chains through the use of commercial Enterprise Resources Planning software (SAP S/HANA ERP system).
The course will focus on the functions required to support the Sales Process, the Procurement Process, and Production Process. Students will learn about the steps in these processes as well as the points of integration between them by performing hands-on exercises in the SAP system.
The students will experience firsthand how modern SAP ERP systems are able to automate and optimize the business processes in Global Supply Chains. This course will also provide a solid foundation for students who wish to pursue the SAP TS410 Certification.
This subject demonstrates how Logistics and Supply Chain Management functions are meshed into a coordinated and efficient corporate operation. Emphasis is placed on the raw material or inbound aspects of corporate operation.
Note: Students that require this course for the Supply Chain Management program, can register for IBS984 - Global Logistics. Please contact the program contact of the program after you register for this course. This course is only offered in May (Spring/Summer Term)
This subject involves the study of the relation between business concepts and computer applications using Microsoft Office based spreadsheet and data base applications. Students will design and develop professional documents, presentations, spreadsheets and databases for advanced business decision making purposes. Students will use data visualization tools to simplify data sharing and evaluation by users.
The central focus of this subject is the preparation and use of accounting information to facilitate the decision making necessary to plan, direct and control the operations of a particular enterprise.
Note: Students that require this course for the Supply Chain Management program can also register for HRM732 Introduction to Financial and Management Accounting.
This course introduces the student to Production Planning and Inventory Management, the important management process and set of disciplines that are coordinated to ensure that the organization consistently meets the requirements of the production system. The purpose of this process is to specify the optimal combination of production rate, the workforce level, and inventory on hand.
This course introduces Sustainability Management and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from the viewpoint of the business management professional. Students will explore key sustainability issues and trends and examine international frameworks that help businesses improve their sustainability performance. Integral to this course, students will use their knowledge to create the business case of a sustainability initiative. The course aims to equip future business professionals with the capacity to effectively lead or participate in sustainability efforts in their organizations and help them adapt to the emerging 21st century business environment.
This subject focuses on the operational, financial and managerial aspects of transportation. In a global manufacturing corporation's supply chain, all of the facilities are identified by nodes while transportation is represented by all of the links between these nodes. Transportation is one function that spreads across the supply chain.
This Capstone project provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate and apply their overall knowledge of Supply Chain Management - Global Logistics. It will give the students the ability to work on a comprehensive Supply Chain project with an industry partner.
This course will introduce you to the evolving legal issues that are relevant to the international business environment, including the legal risks of entering foreign markets, international organizations, trading block, sales contracts, legal aspects of billing of lading and letters of credit, liability of ocean carriers, licensing and the resolution of international disputes.
Project Management is an essential discipline used across all business environments. Project management continues to be embraced by organizations striving to improve business results. The application of project management tools and techniques helps organizations launch new products/services, achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness, improve customer and stakeholder satisfaction and achieve greater competitive advantage. Topics to be covered include project selection, organization structure and culture, project initiation, project planning, project execution, monitoring and control and project closure. This course is compliant with the Project Management Institute "Project Management Body of Knowledge(PMBOK)" 6th edition.
This subject is a continuation of Logistics and Supply Chain Management I (SCM830). This course focuses on the physical distribution or outbound process of a global corporate operation.
This subject is an introduction to Canada Custom Processes as a logistics function within a global supply chain. This would include the basic Customs documentation, release processes, refunds, corrections and drawbacks. Reference will be made to CUSMA and other international trade agreements and to the Customs Self-Assessment (CSA) process.
This course enables students to gain a detailed understanding of the integration between the basic business processes and the SAP modules - Financial (FI) and Managerial (CO) accounting business processes used in modern Supply Chains.
The course also contains hands-on team-based business simulation of the basic SAP business and SAP financial processes used in a simulated logistics company using the Fiori version of the SAP S4HANA system. In the simulation, students will have the opportunity to experience how their decisions about the logistics business processes can result in successful business outcomes. Students also learn firsthand the value of managing and analyzing business data in order to improve the quality of their business decisions.
Upon successful completion of SCM820 (Business Process I) and SCM920 (Business Process II), students will obtain a Certificate of Recognition of their SAP knowledge from SAP University Alliance. This course will also provide a solid foundation for students who wish to pursue the SAP TS410 (Integrated Business Processes in SAP S/4HANA) Certification.
This course introduces sustainable supply chain management as an increasingly integral part of a firm's overall supply chain strategy. The goal of this course is to make students aware of how to minimise reputational risks and maximise value by paying attention to the social, economic, and environmental performance and metrics of a firm's supply chain. Essential to the course, students will learn how to perform a sustainability chain analysis or audit (SCA) to devise a green logistics strategy for a firm. The course aims to equip the future supply chain manager with the tools to effectively adapt their organizations to the business demands of the 21st century. It is also intended to impart the necessary skills to respond to an increasing demand for sustainability professionals in Canada and globally.
Students are introduced to the basics of the procurement function including the purchasing cycle and the way purchasing activity is integrated into the firm's organization. Various purchasing tools and techniques are described and practiced. The important topics of cost-price analysis and negotiation are studied.
Logistics Systems I - SCP701
Students will build on their knowledge of logistics systems by focusing on inventory strategies and methods including equipment and safety requirements for warehousing.
This course examines the use of risk mitigation tools and strategies to inform supply chain management decisions. Students will explore the art and science of identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating risk in order to create risk mitigation plans for various risk factors associated with an organization's supply chain. Students will learn how to lower the probability of occurrence of risk factors and the degree of impact of each high priority risk.
This course is intended to develop your understanding of customer service and the skills associated with understanding the needs of customers, meeting those needs and fostering an environment that encourage customers to return. It will be of interest to anyone who works with customers, either internal or external, on a daily basis.
This program is eligible for OSAP funding.
Course load is used by OSAP to determine funding options for programs.
If you are taking one to two courses at the same time, you may be considered for part-time student grants and loans.
If you are taking three or more courses at the same time, you may be considered for full-time student grants and loans.

Hamid has 30+ years of international business experience working in export development, industry sector development, and foreign direct investment attraction capacity in technical and managerial roles in the private sector, federal governments of the U.S., Sweden, Norway, the City of Toronto, and the Province of Ontario. He is currently a senior manager at Innovation Norway in Canada.
He has been teaching several courses at Seneca since 2014 including: Legal Environment of International Business, Global Market Entry & Distribution, International Marketing & Sales, International Business Plan, Feasibility of International Trade, and International Trade Finance.
Geeta Gosain BCom (fin), HRM, CSCMP
Geeta has over 13 years of professional experience in Procurement/Supply Chain Management, specializing in project plan, RFx analysis & development, negotiations, vendor/contract management. She is currently leading the implementation/introduction of a Mentorship Program within LifeLabs and is an active member of their Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Steering Council.
Geeta has holds an ERPsim Instructor (Level 1) Certification from ERPsimLab HEC Montreal. She teaches several courses including: Business Processes I, Business Processes II, and Business Analysis.
Valliappan (Valli) Palaniappan M ENG, PMP
Valli has over 7 years of experience at leading retailers in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Control, Forecasting/Demand Planning, Data & Business Analytics, Vendor Relationship Management, Project Management. He is experienced in contracts, reporting, sourcing, MRP, scheduling, budgeting, supplier selection, data mining, strategic cost management, 3PL and NAFTA.
Valli was awarded GE Canada - Project Management Award and the Bourse Excellence and Bourse Explora Scholarship from Rhone-Alps Region, France.
Valli is a SAP TERP10 - Certified Business Associate and holds Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and ERPsim Instructor Certifications. He currently teaches several courses including: Global Supply Chain Management, Business Process I & II, Introduction to Transportation, and Customer Relationship Management.
Jason Stober-Baboushkin BA (POL SCI), D.E.C. CSCL., CPSM
As a professor, Jason truly enjoys the opportunity to help explain concepts about Supply Chain Management and Procurement in a way that is engaging and relevant in the real world. He examines the subject content from both a private & public sector lens and provides real life examples from his experience of over 20 years as a Procurement professional. Jason understands how hard it can be and how much has to be sacrificed for students to pursue their education and dreams. He feels it is an opportunity and a blessing to help students on their journey and is proud to support them and help them learn, grow and be successful.
Jason teaches a variety of courses, including: Sustainability & CSR, Logistics & Supply Chain Management I, International Purchasing & Supplier Management, Scheduling & Inventory Management.
David Olaogbebikan M ENG, B ENG, PMP
David is a proven project manager and experienced leading and managing cross-functional teams in the engineering/high-tech industry. He currently works as a program manager at an engineering firm. He has approximately two decades of experience working on various telecommunication/engineering projects. As well, he has international work experience in EMEA and North America region.
David currently teaches Project Management courses in the diploma and graduate certificate programs.
Alice (Xiaolai) Yu, BA (ECON.), CCS, P.LOG
Alice is a seasoned logistics and supply chain professional with extensive international trade expertise, and she has over a decade of experience in import/export, wholesale, and manufacturing operations. Alice has worked in Canada, Nigeria, and China, offering cross-cultural insights into global trade dynamics. Her successful international trade projects have focused on machinery and food import/export. Outside her professional endeavors, Alice is dedicated to community service and serves as a newsletter editor at Seneca. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and continuous skill acquisition.
Alice is the part-time program coordinator for the International Business and Supply Chain Management programs in Faculty of Continuing Education. She also teaches a variety of courses including: Feasibility of International Trade, International Trade Finance, Products and Services for Market, Business in the Global Economy, and Global Value Chain.
Amjad Khan MBA, CITP
Amjad is a Trade Manager at a leading Canadian grain company where he manages global trade operations and contributes to optimizing the flow of agricultural commodities across international markets. He is particularly focused on the grain sector, which presents unique challenges and opportunities in the global supply chain.
Amjad holds a range of professional certifications, as well as specialized certificates from Seneca Polytechnic in Customs Professional, Import and Export, and Supply Chain Management - Global Logistics, which reflect his commitment to continually expanding his knowledge and expertise in the dynamic field of global trade.
Amjad has recently joined Seneca teaching Supply Chain and Logistics courses. This teaching opportunity allows him to share his real-world experiences with students and help bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice. He truly enjoys guiding students through the complexities of supply chain management, preparing them for successful careers in this vital field.

Lemin thrives in the transportation and supply chain sector. Over his career, he has worked as Senior Transportation Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Transportation Manager, Scheduling & Operations Manager, and a Transportation and Customs Specialist, for such companies as Thomas, Large & Singer Inc., Messer Canada, Loblaw Company Ltd., Logistics Alliance Inc., Anixter Canada.
Lemin teaches a variety of courses across both the full-time and part-time program areas including: Introduction to Customs, Customs Process I & II, Logistics, Import & Export Procedures, Introduction to Transportation, Pricing & Quoting, International Freight Handling, and Scheduling & Inventory Management.
Seneca Polytechnic and The Logistics Institute: A Partnership
Complementing an educational qualification with certification can empower you to effectively compete career opportunities, better equip you to excel in the global marketplace, demonstrate your competence, not just knowledge, through third-party testing. Seneca Polytechnic and The Logistics Institute have established a partnership for Seneca students to receive advanced standing towards P.Log. certification on completion of the Supply Chain Management Global Logistics (SCM) graduate certificate.
SCM graduates will be exempt from three of the seven modules required to earn the P.Log. Certification through the Process Management program. This customized stream consists of 4 modules:

SCM graduates may also apply for additional exemptions based on other qualifications held and years of experience. Applications are assessed on individual bases, and should a student be eligible for further exemptions, they will be contacted and provided an alternative pathway.
The National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders (NISCL)
The National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders (NISCL) and Seneca have reached an agreement that will provide an efficient path for graduates of Supply Chain Management Global Logistics graduate certificate to pursue their Certified Supply Chain Leader (CSCL) Designation.
