Hyla has been teaching in the Academic Upgrading program since 1992. She currently teaches mathematics and basic computers skills, helping students improve their academic levels to be able to enter postsecondary education. Hyla also acts as a student adviser to her students, guiding them to achieve their goals. As a personal goal, she wants to inspire her students to love math as much as she does. Hyla feels motivated by her students’ steadfast determination to learn and succeed. She believes learning is different for everyone, and loves to find different ways to teach new concepts to her students.
